Katherine O'Keefe

RE: Charles O'Keefe and others

To Whom This May Concern:

I am researching the O'Keefe family line in connection to my Boyce and McDonough ancestry. I have come across a reference to Charles O'Keefe who was an owner of the O'Keefe Undertakers in 1871 or there abouts.

I am assuming the upon his death, I don't have an exact date, that O'Keefe-Baker undertook the arrangements for his funeral and burial.

I have received the obituary for Frank Boyce/Boice, son of Daniel Boyce and Katherine O'Keefe, stating that he was employed by O'Keefe and Co. prior to his death in 1918. Frank was employed as an upholsterer. I am hoping that is was a family hiring family situation.

I believe that Charles is somehow related to Katherine O'Keefe. Her father was John O'Keefe. I have been unable to confirm the name of the mother as yet.

If you would send me the information regarding Charles O'Keefe, his date of death, and any information that you would have regarding his family relations at the time it would be deeply appreciated.

May I also request a lookup for:

The wife of John O'Keefe. The only clue that I have to offer is that his date of death was December 20, 1871.

The parents names, and any sibling information for: Daniel Boyce, date of death was August 18, 1903. He was killed by a train in Chillicothe, OH, but was buried in Ironton.

Any family relation of Dennis Boyce, date of death is March 17, 1887.

Family relation to William Boyce - date of death is July 4, 1884.

John Carlin/Carlan; date of death April 24, 1889.

Thank you so much for your time and effort. I have enclosed a check to cover copying and postage.

Best Regards,

Mrs. Katherine O'Keefe Boyce of 621 Hecla Street died at her home this morning at 5:45 o'clock after an extended illness. She had been ill since Christmas and had been critical recently.

Mrs. Boyce was the last member of her family, her parents and all brothers and sisters having preceded her in death. She is survived by five daughters and one son, Mrs. Mary Lenz, Mrs. Nellie Mayne, Mrs. Henry Goldcamp and Mrs. James J. Mrs. Boyce was born in Pennsylvania but came to Ironton with her parents when she was a child. She had since resided here and was one of the best known and highly beloved residents of the North Side. She was united in marriage here to Daniel Boyce, who preceded her in death twenty-seven years. She was a beloved mother and neighbor and there were expressions of sorrow on all sides when it became known the "Grandma Boyce" has passed to a well-earned reward.
