SARAH EMALINE MECOY (ABNER3, JOHN2, WILLIS1) was born December 24, 1836 in McNairy County, Tennessee, and died August 05, 1920, Tipton County, TN. She married WILLIAM JAMES MCINTYRE December 21, 1859 in Tippah County, son of WILLIAM MCINTYRE and JANE STEWART. He was born November 05, 1826 in North Carolina, and died December 05, 1898 in Ripley, MS, Tippah County.
William James McIntyre, Jr. earned his living by teaching school until he enlisted in the War on February 1, 1863. He enlisted in Ripley with Gholson's Cavalry, Co. A, 2nd Reg't Mississippi Calvary. In August of that same year, he was promoted to First Lt. and served until the surrender. When he returned to Tippah County, he served as tax assessor for 12 years. In 1887, he was elected chancery clerk for that county.
