My mother's father was Jacob Briscoe Scherer, b. Dec. 7. 1873, in Virginia. d. Dec 3, 1915, in Clifton Forge, VA. He is buried in Crownhill Cemetery in Clifton Forge, VA. 1901 photo. 1903 photo of Jacob.  Married Mary Alma Butler, b. 1880 in Virginia, d. 1943 in South Charleston, WV. She is buried in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV. They had five children: Sybil Regina, Clayton Butler, John Collins, Mary Jane, and Louise Collins.  Jacob's father was John Briscoe Scherer, date of birth and death unknown at this time. His mother was Johanna Sullivan, d. Dec. 18, 1922. Buried in Staunton, VA. 

John Collins, b. Sept. 26, 1909, d. May 30, 1986. Married Clifton Alice Young, b. March 4, 1908, d. May 25, 1977. Both are buried in Montgomery, WV. They had no children. Clayton Butler, b. Sept. 13, 1903, d. Aug. 11, 1982. Married Lena McClung, b. July 14, 1903, d. Jan. 28, 1993. Both are buried in Sunset Memorial Park, S. Charleston, WV. They had one child, John Scherer. Mary Jane, b. March 26, 1913, d. Sept. 1978. Married Madison Lewis. Louise Collins, b. May 28, 1915, d. May 7, 2002. Married Allen Oakes McClung. Sybil Regina, b. 1901, d. 1948, no children. Sybil is buried in Sunset Memorial Park, beside her mother.
