FIRST GENERATION
1. Newton BUNN(1)was
born in 1826 in NC.(2) He appeared
on the census in 1850 in Henry Co., GA. (3)
1850 Henry Co., GA census shows N. Bunn, age 26, M, Farmer, Real Estate
Value $300, born in GA. They are living next door to T. G. Barnett and
family. He died about 1853.(4) Newton
Bunn was not listed with his wife in the 1860 Henry Co., GA census. Note
from Tom Bunn: From the obit of Elizabeth Bunn, wife of Newton Bunn, we
must conclude that Newton Bunn died about 1853. the obit states that Elizabeth
Bunn was left a widow when her oldest child was 6 years old. This child
being John James "Jim" Bunn who was born 12 June 1847 (end of note).
Newton Bunn is thought to be the son of
Jesse and Eady Broadaway Bunn. Jesse and Eady married 18 OCT 1811. He had
a sister, Charity Bunn, who married George Valentine Barnett, and a brother,
George W. Bunn, who married Mary Ann Mays, and Sarah Ann Pilgreen. Jesse
Bunn is thought to be the son of James and Suckey Unknown Bunn. Most of
my information on his ancestors came from Mary Ann Askew Bunn.
He obtained a marriage license on 28 Jul
1846 in Henry Co., GA.(5) He was
married to Elizabeth Hollanberry "Holly" FIELDS (daughter of James
FIELDS and Hollanberry "Holley" COOPER) on 30
Jul 1846 in McDonough, Henry Co., GA.(6)

Henry Co., GA census shows Elizabeth Bunn, age 28(sic), F, Farm Laborer,
Personal Value $75, born in GA. Her husband is not shown with her so it
is assumed he has died. She appeared on the census in 1870 in Henry Co.,
GA.(14) 1870 Henry Co., GA census
shows E. Bunn, age 40, female, white, Housekeeper, born in GA, personal
value $300. Her husband, Newton Bunn, was not listed with her so he may
have died before this time.
She died on 8 Jul 1905.(15)

Just the vital
information was transcribed. "Henry County
Weekly, July 14, 1905. Mrs Elizabeth Bunn - sudden unexpected death. With
her son, Mr A.F. Bunn. 1840 married Newton Bunn and married for 66 years.
Mother of 4 children: A.F. and James of this city. Tom of East Point and
George of Texas. Born Feb 10, 1826 and died July 8, 1905. Burial in the
City Cemetery of
McDonough, GA. " She was left a widow when
her oldest child was just 6 years old.""
Note: Marrage Lic for Newton Bunn and Elizabeth
Hollenberry Fields is dated 30 July 1846 and not in 1840 as stated above.
