1860 Henry Co., GA Census shows a Westly Caps, age 30, Occupation - Farm
Laborer, $100 Personal Estate Value, can't read or write, born in GA, married

- listed Wesley Capps (Capes) as serving in Co. H, 27th Regiment, Georgia
Volunteer Infantry, in Henry Co., GA. This was also known as Zachry's Rangers.
Private Sept. 9, 1861. Wounded in Virginia in 1864. Admitted to General
Hospital at Petersburg, Va. June 18, 1864, and died of wounds in right
thigh Aug. 27, 1864.
Lewie Dunn's notes had PVT Co. H 27th GA
Inf. Regt., buried in Petersburg, VA. He died on 27 Aug 1864 in Petersburg,
VA.(5) He died in the civil war.
He was buried in Petersburg, VA. There is also a C.S.A. marker beside Amanda
in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Butts Co., GA. It had the
birth date on it.
He obtained a marriage license on 13 May
1848 in Henry Co., GA. (6)

widowed. There is nothing listed under number of children, but under number
still living it says 1. She was born in GA, and her parents were born in
GA. This time it says she can read/write and speak English. She died on
6 Oct 1908. She was buried in Butts Co., GA at County Line Baptist Church

The next child down (E. - age 1) is listed. In the 1860 census, John appears
as age 13. Also, Westly and Amanda were not married until 1848. Was this
John Capps adopted, or could he have been a sibling of Wesley's? He appeared
on the census in 1860 in Henry Co., GA.(14)
