Mrs. Elizabeth R. Allen – Elizabeth Rebecca (Edmonds) Bash Allen
  Allen – Mrs. Elizabeth R. Allen, widow 67 years old died at 5 oclock Saturday at her home 820 South Wichita Street. She resided in Wichita 2 ½ years. Gill Mortuary has charge of the services. – Wichita Eagle Morning, Wichita, KS, June 5, 1921

  Allen – Mrs. Elizabeth R. Allen age 67, died at 5 oclock Saturday morning at her home after an illness of more than a year. She was born in Indiana and came to Wichita 2 ½ years ago. She is survived by a son and daughter. Gill Brothers have charge. – Wichita Beacon Evening, Wichita, KS, June 5, 1921

William Allen –
   William Allen was born in Dayton, Ohio Sept. 17, 1845. He had a birthright in the Quaker Church. When eight years old he moved with his parents by ox team to Iowa moving to N. Dak. in 1907.
   When 24 years of age Mr. Allen was married to Miss Jennie Johnson. To this union was born three children, Cora, Bert and Effie. When Mr. Allen was 41 years of age his wife passed to the Great Beyond. Seven years later Mr. Allen married Miss Elizabeth Bash. To this union 3 children were born, Mary and Martha (twins) and Lena. His wife preceded him in death 13 years ago.
   Mr. and Mrs. Allen and family were pioneers in the Hiddenwood Communtiy and took an active part in the work of the Hiddenwood Church. They were a devoted Christian family. For the past several years Mr. Allen has made his home with his daughter Mrs. Wm Johansen. From her home he was taken to a hospital in Minot where early Sunday morning Dec 23rd he passed to the eternal life. Until a few weeks before his death Mr. Allen was a regular attendant at the Presbyterian Sunday School. His Bible was his guide in all things.
   Funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church, Ryder, the Rev. H. E. Dierenfield of Monet officiating. Bearers were Reinhart Nelson, Harley Jones, Dick Turner, Fred Olson, Harvey Nyce and John Campbell. All were pioneer friends of Mr. Allen.
  Interment was made in Ryder Cemetery. Beautiful floral offerings expressed sympathy for those bereaved.
  The deceased leaves three daughters, Mrs. Martha VanSickle, Barrow, Wis., Miss Allen, Portland, Oregon and Lena Johanson, Ryder and Bert Allen, living in Oregon and fourteen grandchildren. His three daughters, Mary, Martha and Lena were at his bedside when he died.

One more in heaven!”
Laura (Bash) Lemar –
  Laura Bash Lemar was born in Wabash County, Ind. Sept. 14, 1878. When but seven years old her father died and at the age of fourteen years she moved with her mother to Iowa. The latter married Mr. Wm. Allen settling in Madison County.
  On July 19, 1897 she was married to Frank S. Lemar to which union were born nine children, R. Ralph, Russell L., Fred R., LeRoy C., Mamie H., Denton I., Fern E., Floyd F. and Ruth D.
  During all her busy life she never forgot others. Her friends were many. She has done what she could in her home life she was faithful to her Heavenly Father as well as her family.  Death called her May 2, 1922 after illness of several weeks.
  Besides her children she leaves a husband and two brothers, Earl Bash, Wichita, Kansas, Harvey Bash, Ava, Missouri, a sister Mrs. Clara Condo, Peru, Ind., three half sisters Mrs. Lena Johansen, Ryder, N.D., Miss Mary Allen, Little Falls, Minn. And Mrs. Martha Van Sickle, of Little Falls, Minn., all whom were present at the funeral at Earlham.
  Funeral Services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Earlham Friday, May 5, by Rev. Louis Watson, of Ankeny, an old friend of the deceased assisted by Rev. P. J. Allwell. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery. – Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa, May 1922

Frank Lemar –
  Death of Frank Lamar
  Fairview, October 22. Special – Frank Lemar, an old time resident of this community, died at his home in Des Moines, Saturday, October 12th, and was brought to Earlham for burial Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Lemar had lived in this community almost his entire life. The old Lemar home was where John Golightly lives. – Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa, October 24, 1929 – page 6

Lena Johansen –
  RYDER – Lena Johansen, 89, longtime Ryder area resident, died Saturday in a Velva nursing home. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Ryder with burial in the Ryder Cemetery.
  She was born Sept. 17, 1897, to William and Elizabeth Allen in West Branch, Iowa, and in 1903 moved with her family to a homestead in Hiddenwood Township south of Ryder, in Ward County. They were one of a few Quaker families that settled in the area.
  She graduated from Ryder High School in 1918 and attended Bible School at Urbana, Ill., before her marriage to William Johansen July 3, 1918, in Minot. They lived on a farm in Ryder Township and moved into Ryder in 1957. He died April 7, 1977.
  She was a member of Calvary church and the ladies aid and the Ryder homemakers Club.
  Survivors: sons, Robert, Brownwood, Texas, David, South Fulton, Tenn., Russel and Gerald, both Ryder; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
  Visitation will be Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, Minot.

Mary M. Allen –
  Miss Mary M. Allen, age 87, resident of Siloam Springs, died Saturday morning at the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
  Miss Allen was born March 1, 1895 in Madison County, Iowa and had been a longtime resident of this area. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
  Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Lena Johansen of Ryder, North Dakota; and 11 nephews.
  Funeral services for Miss Allen were held Monday at 4 p.m. at the Pyeatte chapel with Rev. Allan Hilliard officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Pyeatte Funeral Service.

Smith, Lucy A.                                                                                                                       October 18, 1888
     Mrs. Lucy A. Smith of Cherryvale, Kansas died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bash, in this city, last Thursday, age 70 years, 2 months and 7 days.  She was born in Union County, Penna., in 1818 and afterwards
moved with her parents to this vicinity.  She was the daughter of Adam Rager now deceased, an old and well known resident of this place, and of a family of eleven children, the youngest of whom is now past 50 years of age, she was the first to be summoned by death.  She leaves a husband and seven children and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her death.  Funeral last Friday from the Lutheran church.  Rev. Maggart officiating.  Mrs. Smith had come from her home in Kansas a short time ago to make a visit with relatives here and was taken by sickness which ended in her death.  Her husband was summoned and was at her bedside at the time of her death.-- Source: The Journal, "Obituaries Wabash Co., North Manchester, Ind, 1881-1893" by Kite
