Fremont Cemetery, McLean County, Illinois
Fremont Cemetery is located on 50 North Road, .1 mile west of 950 East Road, in Funks Grove Township, Section 10 of McLean County and is very near the DeWitt/McLean County line. Catharine Burten, born Dec. 13, 1804 and who died Dec. 28, 1866, is buried in this cemetery. This may be my great grandmother, wife of Thomas. One sources states she was born in 1805. The Portrait and Biographical Album of DeWitt and Piatt Counties, Illinois states that after the death of her husband, Thomas, she lived with her children in DeWitt Co. IL and died in 1865. Since this cemetery is near the DeWitt/McLean Co. line and the dates of birth and death are so near the same we feel there is a good likelihood this is my great grandmother. -- Source: Portrait and Biographical Album of DeWitt and Piatt Counties, Illinois Illustrarted: S.
