Livingston County, IL
Livingston County, Illinois is located in the northeast quarter of Illinois, midway between Chicago and Springfield.  The county was organized on Frebruary 27, 1837 and was named for Edward Livingston, a lawyer and statesman who served as Mayor of New York City; Congressman of New York state; U.S. Senator from Louisiana; Secretary of State under President Jackson and U.S. Minister to France.  Pontiac, the county seat is located on the Vermillion River.  At the time of its organization, Livingston County was the greatest corn producing county in Illinois.

The counties early settlers came mainly from Indiana and Ohio, or more populated areas of the state, and were immigrants or descendants of immigrants who came from Ireland, Germay, Norway, Denmark and England.  Livingston County was then populated by Kickapoo and Pottawatomie Indians.
