Ryder Cemetery, Ryder, ND
also known as Rosehill Cemetery
Ryder Cemetery is located Northeast of Ryder, ND in Ward County, North Dakota.  Ryder was established in 1906 and is located 40 miles SW of Minot, ND, on Highway 28, 4 miles south of Highway 23.

Historic trails which crisscross Ward County in all directions played a significant role in the opening of the West and the settlement of North Dakota.  Railroads made the biggest impact on Ward County's settlements and growth.  The railroads located towns along its tracks and sold lots and farmland from its land grants to settlers to fund the extension of the railroad westward.  This sale of large tracts of land gave rise to wheat farms which are still in operation in the county.  In 1890 nearly half of the North Dakota population was foreign born with large settlements of Swedish, Norwegian, German and Russian immigrants. Minot is the county seat of Ward County. Each fall people travel all over the world to take part in the Norst Hostfest  (the largest Scandinavian festival in North America).  Today the traditions and values of these early settlers still remain strong.  According to their website, the current population is "90 friendly people, more or less".
