John McAdams was issued a land grant on donated military lands 3/25/1837 due to the 
service of James McAdams who entolled in the milita at Vincenness 1 Aug. 1790.  This 
family comes from William McAdam, cb. 1775 who lived in Jefferson County, Ohio who 
came there from Brooke County, Virginia where they lived until 1800.  He died in 1815 about
the age of 40.  He is believed to be the son of William McAdams and Elizabeth McGowen of 
Northumberland Co., Penn.  His wife was Sarah Henry and they had 7 children.  John William 
McAdams, b. 1795 in Va. was their first son who is the same John McAdams listed above.  
His wife was Sarah McCoy who he married 20 Dec. 1821 who is also listed above.  John and Sarah 
had 12 children. Sons, William married Martha A Samples and James (above) married 
Elizabeth Stephenson.
