Will of Sarah Stroud
In the name of god amen I Sarah Stroud of Chester District and State of
SC being of sound and disposing mind and memory but weak in body and
calling to mind the uncertainty of life and being desirous to dispose
of all such workly estate as it has pleased go to bless me with do make
and ordain this my last will in manner following that is to say-
I desire that the negro woman Betty and her young child Vicy with
all my household furnature and stock of every kind should be put to sale
the woman betty and child I wish sold together and that this sale shall
be immediately after my decease and out of the money arising thereof all
my just debts and funeral expenses I allow the balance of the proceed of
the property I have allowed to be sold to be equally divided between James
Stroud and William Stroud my two sons and my daughter Rebecca Westbrooks
three youngest children say Nancy, James and Thomas Westbrooks to heir
their mothers part which will be equal with James and William Stroud
claim two dollars excepted which is to be disposed of as follows say one
dollar to my son Thomas and one dollar to John Stroud my two sons I further
wish that Rebecca Westbrook my daughter shall have all my wearing clothes
the above portion of property allowed to my three grand children Nancy,
James, and Thomas Westbrook is to be subject to the disposal of Rebecca
Westbrook their mother and lastly I do consititute and appoint James Stroud
and Esq Jno Ferguson Executors of this my last will and testament by me
heretofore made in testamony whereof I have here unto set my hand and
affixed my seal this the 12th day of June 1834.
Signed, Sealed, Published and Declared as and for the last Will and
Testament of the above named Sarah Stroud in the presence of us
John A Findly, William Westbrook, Peter Yarborough
