Died Sunday, Eli SPURLIN at home in the 18th district, 61 years of age. Was
married twice. Wife and child survive. Baptist. Buried with Masonic honors.
( I am not directly descended from Pleasant Miller Huddleston--his
daughter Malinda (Milly) married the brother of my great-great-grand-
father Fawcett.
The obit mentions that her husband is John T. Faucett. He was actually
Josiah T. Faucett/Fawcett (note all the different spellings of this
surname--on a single obituary)! It mentions he was a member of Jack
Neely's Co. in the Civil War. Since he died in 1862, I assume he died
in the war. I am just beginning to look for info on Josiah, his life
and death.
The obit also lists their 4 children. 'R.L. Faucett' was Richard L.
Faucett, 'Mrs. A. T. Ross' was Ann Thomas Fawcett Ross (and I have more
on her and the Ross line), 'Mrs. Josie Scroggins', wife of A. H.
Scroggins (where Malinda was living when she died), was Josephine
Fawcett, and 'R.B. Faucette' was Ruskin B. Fawcett.)
