I, Joseph Huddleston, Sr., of the county of Franklin and the state of Tennessee, do make this my last will and testament.First, I direct my executors, hereinafter mentioned, to collect the debts due me and out of the first collections and cash on hand to pay all my debts and demands against my estate. Second, I leave to my wife, Elizabeth Huddleston during her life, the tract of land on which I now live , all my slaves except Charles and farming untensils, grain and provisions, as my said wife Elizabeth may desire, and at the death of my said wife said land and negroes, and their increases are to be disposed of as hereinafter directed. Third, I give to my nephew Joseph Huddleston of Franklin country, and his heirs forever, at the death of my said wife, should she survive me, or at my death should I survive her, all of my lands and the slaves David, Millie, Tom. Fourth, I have heretofore given to Joseph H. Dodds of Georgia my slave Charles and at my death I direct my executors to deliver said boy to him or his legal heirs.Fifth, I direct my executors to sell all my perishable property as well as that which has been reserved by my wife as well as that which has not, the first to be sold at my death, and the second at the death of my wife and I direct that the proceeds of the same as well as all the money and choses in action of which I may be possessed be divided equally between Joseph H. Davis son of William Davis and Joseph H Adams, son of Lake P. Adams and that my said executors manage this bequest and that they pay the same to said Davis and Adams when they arrive at the age of 21 years or to their respective heirs.should either of them die, before attaining that age. Sixth, I give to Matthew Watson, nephew of my said wife at her death , my two slaves Seaborn and John, children of Sally. Seventh, I give to Francis Huddleston son of Joseph Huddleston, my two slaves William and Marion also children of Sally. Eighth, I give to Isaac Huddleston son of Joseph Huddleston, my three slaves, Jim, Sam, Andrew also sons of Sally. Ninth, I give to Sidney Pearson, wife of Kindred Pearson and neice of my wife and at my wife's death, two hundred dollars in cash. Tenth, I also give to Joseph Adams son of Luke Adams and his heirs forever at the death of my wife, my negro slave named Doctor, also a child of Sally. Eleventh, I have also given and conveyed to my friend Peter S. Decherd, my negro woman Sally and her three children Sarah, James and her infant now at the breast, a boy named Fielding and I direct my executors at my death to deliver them and their increase to him. Twelfth, I appoint my friends, Luke P. Adams and Squire B. Hawkins, executors of this my will and revoke all other wills which may have been made by me. In testimony whereof I have set my hand and seal, this sixth day of March A. D. 1846.
