Jozef''s Parentage

Herman
Maziuk was Jozef's father. This
photo is a blown-up, retouched photograph made from
a small passport type photo. Herman was born in
1859, according to Dziadiu and told to Frances. We
believe both his parents were born and died in
Poland. Jozef's mother's name was Anna Hren
and her birth year was 1861. Her mother's name (Joseph's
grandmother) was Barbara. Joseph made one trip back
to Poland to visit them in 1931. It seems that while Urshula's family was respectable and pillars of their village, Josef's family was rougher and less refined. Whenever Joseph tried to talk about his family, Ursula would tell about HER family, thus silencing Joseph. Perhaps if any of their children can conjure up old memories, we can learn more about them. |
