Note:
Log Cabin Democrat:
Mrs. G. Spence Bell was born January 18, 1849. Her Lord called her home May 24, 1931. She lived to reach the age of 82 years, four months and six days. In early life she professed Christ and united with the Missionary Baptist church, and lived a devoted Christian until death. She was joined in matrimony to G. S. Bell March 3, 1867. To this union was born 11 children, two of them passing away in infancy. Five boys and four girls are still living besides her husband, who is 87 years of age. They lived together 65 years and never disagreed, always living happily. Mrs. Bell was a tender and loving mother. She always looked after her home and her dear children, and was devoted to her husband. She also leaves 45 grandchildren living. Thirteen have died. Thirty-seven great grandchildren also survive, with one other dead. Mrs. Bell was born and reared in Faulkner county. Her father, Sam Adkisson, came to this county before the civil war and reared his family here. Her husband - though 87 - is very cheerful and gets about the place without assistance. Always he has a cheerful word to everyone. He is now living on his farm where he has resided for over 60 years, and never bought any corn or meat. He has made a living on the farm and always had some corn and meat to spare to the needy. His wife and Mr. Bell were great pillars of the church. His home was and always is open to all of God's saints. I heard a voice from heaven saying, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth yea saith the spirit that they may rest from their labors and their works to do follow them." Yes, dear mother, rest on. You were faithful. You loved us and we loved you, and by God's grace I will meet you some sweet day. Weep not, father, weep not, children, you know where mother is. May God's divine grace rest upon them all. Written by their friend, Elder T. F. Thompson.

F. Thompson.
