Jobs, even for those who might have a special skill, were for the most part non-existent. Struggling for basic needs was the story of the times, a way of life. Through these times Ursley was a farm laborer, sharecropper, as did every one else, worked at anything he could find to do. A devout Christian of the Baptist faith he was ordained to the ministry in the early `40s. He successfully pastored a number of country churches throughout the Grand Prairie Missionary Baptist Association, He attended the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock but did not complete the offered courses. He continued to work part-time in the secular field while pastoring churches. Katie, after jobs were more available, worked in sales for local grocers.
William Ursley Livesay died on 20 June 1990 at Des Arc, Prairie County, Arkansas, at age 83.
