He served in the American Revolution. He was at Savannah, Georgia under Generals Greene, Pickens, and Sumpter. He also fought the Cherokees under Nathaniel Jefferies in May 1775.
He was born on 23 May 1759 at Halifax County, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).¹ Samuel Mayfield married Jane (?) between 1776 and 1809.¹ Samuel Mayfield died after 1836 at Alabama or Arkansas.¹

     Elisha Mayfield was born circa 1763 at NC or Virginia.¹ He was the son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).¹ Elisha Mayfield married Sara Roberts between 1782 and 1813.¹ Elisha Mayfield died between 1798 and 1854.¹

     Sara Roberts was born circa 1769 at NC or Virginia.¹ She married Elisha Mayfield, son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?), between 1782 and 1813.¹ As of between 1782 and 1813,her married name was Mrs. Mayfield. Sara Roberts died between 1798 and 1863.¹

     Elisha Mayfield was born circa 1795 at South Carolina.¹ He was the son of Elisha Mayfield and Sara Roberts.¹ Elisha Mayfield married Martha M. (?) between 1816 and 1847.¹ Elisha Mayfield died between 1841 and 1887.¹

     Martha M. (?) was born in 1804 at South Carolina.¹ She married Elisha Mayfield, son of Elisha Mayfield and Sara Roberts, between 1816 and 1847.¹ As of between 1816 and 1847,her married name was Mrs. Mayfield. Martha M. (?) died between 1842 and 1899.¹

     Jonathan Mayfield was born circa 1763 at North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).¹ Jonathan Mayfield died between 1764 and 1853.¹

     Ezekiel Mayfield was born circa 1766 at Virginia.¹ He was the son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).¹ Ezekiel Mayfield died between 1767 and 1856.¹

     Obediah Mayfield was born circa 1767 at North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).¹ Obediah Mayfield died between 1768 and 1857.¹

     John Mayfield Fairfax County, Virginia Land Causes - Page 157. Indenture - John Mayfield and Frances, his wife, of the Parish of St. Ann in County of Essex (of 1st part) and Samuel Smith (of 2nd Part) for 3,000# - all plantation, houses, parcel of land - 322 acres - and a half being the _____ or half part of 645 acres which was conveyed by deed of gift from Mary Clark to her six children, namely, William, Elizabeth, Ann, Mary, Jane, and Frances. And for as much as the said William, Elizabeth, Mary and Jane are since dead and leaving no issue in fee simple of the said 645 acres vested in Ann and Frances surviving heirs of said Mary Clark. Witness: Stephen Chenault, John Hart, Catherine Brusenall at court held for Stafford County Aug 14, 1723, John Mayfield and Frances his wife acknowledge deed.

This may be the John who is found in Caroline County, Virginia records, June 10, 1743, and if so, he could be the father of Henry who was in Rev. War. Henry married Milly Davvy and is the father of Stephen who is in Augusta County, Virginia, ca 1820. - Hoyle Mayfield.

He was born; Birth date per Glenn W. Mayfield - Abt. 1681. He was born circa 1685 at Old Rappahannock County, Virginia; Essex County was formed in 1692 from Old Rappahonnock, which was abolished. He was the son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?). Isaac Mayfield married Isabella Sutherland in 1716 at Virginia.² Isaac Mayfield died between 1726 and 13 January 1790 at Virginia.²

     Anne Mayfield was born circa 1687.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).¹ Individual Note: Anne Mayfield married Thomas Connally per D. and W. 14, page 385 in 1713 at Essex County, Virginia.^2,1 She married Thomas Connally in 1713 at Essex County, Virginia. As of 1713,her married name was Mrs. Connally. Anne Mayfield died between 1718 and 1781.¹

     Thomas Connally was born circa 1678 at Ireland.^1,2 He married Anne Mayfield, daughter of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?), in 1713 at Essex County, Virginia. Thomas Connally died between 1715 and 1742 at Lancaster, Virginia.^1,2

     Catherine Mayfield was born circa 1675.^1,2 She was the daughter of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?).^1,2 Catherine Mayfield married Unknown Gregory in 1700 at Essex County, Virginia. As of 1700,her married name was Mrs. Gregory. Catherine Mayfield died between 1714 and 1785.¹

     Frances Clark was born between 1682 and 1745. She was the daughter of (?) Mary. Frances Clark married John Mayfield, son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?), between 1701 and 1769.¹ As of between 1701 and 1769,her married name was Mrs. Mayfield. Frances Clark died between 1766 and 1833.¹

      Isabella Sutherland was also known as Isabella Southerland. She was born between 1680 and 1705. She married Isaac Mayfield, son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?), in 1716 at Virginia.³ As of 1716,her married name was Mrs. Mayfield. Isabella Sutherland died between 1729 and 1792.¹

     Unknown Gregory was born between 1656 and 1689. He married Catherine Mayfield, daughter of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?), in 1700 at Essex County, Virginia. Unknown Gregory died between 1707 and 1776.¹

     William Mayfield was born between 1701 and 1728.¹ He was the son of Abraham Mayfield and Elizabeth (?).^1,2 William Mayfield died in 1761 at Culpeper County, Virginia.^2,1

Know all men by these presents that wheras I Aham Mayfield Sen of the State and District aforesaid having become old and infirm I have agreed with my son Daniel Mayfield to the following contract. First I transfer unto the said Daniel his heirs to all my right title an interest to the tract of land on which I now live on being part of a tract of land deeded to the said A. Mayfield by Benjamin Farmer the 14th day of September 1804 and part of a tract granted to the said A. Mayfield the 21st day of March 1792. This conveyance includes all the land of both the aforesaid tracts that I have not already conveyed and also I convey to the said Daniel Mayfield all my other property of every kind. This transfer is made on the conditions that the said Daniel Mayfield is bound to support and maintain the Aham Mayfield and his wife Patsey Mayfield the remainder of their lives out of the profits and proceeds of the plantation and other property.. The support to be such as they have been accustomed to and proper for persons in this situation and to pay all the debts of the said Abraham Mayfield now owing after performing the conditions up to the time of their deaths which he the said Daniel doth covenant and agree to wheather the property is worthe so muche or not and to keep himself and all the other children from being liable to pay anything for their support of the said Abraham Mayfield. All this having been performed he is to have an absolute title to all land in fee simple to him and his heirs forever and also all the other property that may be on hand at the time. Now the full understanding of the foregoing is simply this that the said Daniel Mayfield his heirs Exec. does covenant and agree to maintain and support the said A. Mayfield and wife as aforesaid and in consideration is to have the property that remains unexpended at his death and the said Daniel Mayfield is to go into immediate possession of all the property and manage the same so as to enable him to pay the debts and provide support for said Abraham Mayfield and wife. It is moreover a part of this agreement that should there ever arise any difficulty between the parties touching the manner of the suport of the said Abraham and wife and charge made against the said Daniel of not complying with his part of the contract the same shall be setteld by each party choosing one man and they two an umpire to settle all controversey that might arise as to the faithful fullfilment of this contract and their decision shall be binding.
It is moreover a part of this agreement that the rest of the children of A. Mayfield cease from this date to have any interest in the property of the said Abraham Mayfield and also are not liable in any manner for his support.

1850: Abraham is listed in the 1850 Federal Census for Greenville District SC; he is stated to be 87 years of age, was born in Virginia, and was then residing in the household of a certain Daniel Mayfield (Age 50, Dwelling Number 2215). Abraham cannot be found in the 1860 census for Greenville District, thus indicating that he probably died in the 1850-1860 time frame."

      Margaret Cook was also known as Margaret Koch. She was born between 1754 and 1774.¹ She died between 1779 and 1858.¹ She married Stephen Mayfield, son of Robert Mayfield and Sarah (?), on 20 May 1797 at Mecklenburg County, North Carolina; ten children to this marriage.^1,2 As of 20 May 1797,her married name was Mrs. Mayfield.

     Nancy Ann Hedgepeth was born ?unknown. She married William F. Coonrod, son of George Coonrod Sr. and Lydia Ann Fendurds, on 21 December 1852.¹ As of 21 December 1852,her married name was Mrs. Coonrod.

     William Henry Mayfield was born say 1760.¹ He was the son of John Mayfield and Frances Clark.¹ William Henry Mayfield began military service was in Rev. War.
his widow moved to Cooper County, Missouri. He was in The Revolutionary War. He married Milly Davey on 2 January 1791 at Caroline County, Virginia.^2,1,3 William Henry Mayfield appeared on the census of 1810 at Augusta County, Virginia; Henry Mayfield 1 1 - - 1 2 - - 1 - -.⁴ He died before 1814.

      Milly Davey was also known as Milley. She was born between 1756 and 1779.¹ She married William Henry Mayfield, son of John Mayfield and Frances Clark, on 2 January 1791 at Caroline County, Virginia.^2,1,3 As of 2 January 1791,her married name was Mayfield. Milly Davey moved to Cooper County, Missouri after Henry's death. She died in 1849 at Cooper County, Missouri.

     Stephen Mayfield was born say 1795.¹ He was the son of William Henry Mayfield and Milly Davey.¹

As of 1815,her married name was Mrs. Sullivan. Mary A. Mayfield died between 1821 and 1891.¹
