He was born in 1876 at Arkansas.5 He was born on 1 March 1876 at Prairie County, Arkansas.6,7 He was the son of William Turner Livesay and Vitura Ophelia Oliver.4 William Walter Livesay lived in 1880 at Bridge Bend, Prairie County, Arkansas.6 He appeared on the census of 1880 in the household of William Turner Livesay and Vitura Ophelia Oliver at Bridge Bend, Prairie County, Arkansas.8 William Walter Livesay appeared on the census of 1900 at Dist 96, Union Twp, Prairie County, Arkansas. He married Hattie Loretta Lumpkin, daughter of James Thomas Lumpkin and Frances Elizabeth Ricks, on 21 October 1900 at Prairie, Arkansas; The Drury Tucker Livesay homestead was located in Prairie County, AR on Wattensaw Bayou immediately behind what was then McBee (sometimes called Magby) School, also used for church services and other community meetings, and the McBee Cemetery. Not very far away was Bridge Bend/Mason Community. In 1900 when Wm. Walter and Hattie Lumpkin Livesay were married, the head of the Livesay family was William Turner Livesay. This couple lived on the farm of her deceased father, James Thomas Lumpkin. He farmed for a number of years, then joined his brother Drury McKinney Livesay, in the Livery Stable business. They moved to DeValls Bluff where Elizabeth and, perhaps, Edward were born. They moved the business to Beebe in White County. Edward may have been born here, or maybe back on the farm at Mason. Anyway, Ursley and James were just old enough to slip away from their mother to check out those interesting things that were taking place at the Livery Stable. Apparently the livery business was fast giving way to the automobile industry. Walter and Hattie moved back to the farm and shortly afterward they bought a farm from Elmer Wray just across Wattensaw in the same general area of other Livesay/Oliver families. In March, 1923, Walter's long deteriorating health, diagnosed as cancer of the digestive tract, came to an end. His offspring ranged in age from eight to twenty one. William Walter Livesay was also known as Walter.7 He and Hattie Loretta Lumpkin appeared on the census of 1910 at Union Twp, Prairie County, Arkansas; a Farmer

    Marriage Certificate

Note that Joseph was listed in the census as the son of Drury. Age implies that he was born 3 years prior to the marriage of Drury and Sarah Harper. Therefore, we assume (no proof) that Joseph W. was the son of Ann E Cummings Livesaay. However, he would have been born abt 1870, and Ann was not listed in the 1870 census, so there is some doubt as to the validity of that hypothesis.
