"James Waite Mayfield, 80, of Navarre, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Navarre. He was born in Hollywood, Calif. He was retired as the postmaster of Moffett and worked previously for Aetna Life and Casualty and as a crop duster, primarily for Nelson Rockefeller Farms in Venezuela. He also was a veteran of World War II and flew in the Army Corps.
His affiliations while in this area included: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Quiet Birdmen, Knights of Columbus, Rotary International, American Legion, I.C. Mens Club, Fort Smith Optimist Club, Red Cross swimming instructor, masters swimming competitor and past president of Wally Bynum
International Air Stream Association of Green Country. He was also a volunteer coach for the Fort Smith Boys Club Swim Team.
He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Mayfield; his mother, Agnes Gill Mayfield; a daughter, Catherine Patricia Mayfield; and a son, James B. Mayfield.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine "Tina" Mayfield; a son, John M. Mayfield of Yukon, Okla; two daughters, Mary Ann Crews Klefisch, stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and Jane Mayfield Smart of Boyce, LA; a sister, Catherine A. Beargie of Lexington, KY; and four grandsons, James,
Nathan, Stuart and Will Mayfield, all of Yukon.
Pallbearers will be Ray and Ed Seiter, John Didion, Dr. Williams Holmes, AL Nolte and Jerry Miller."
Rosary service will be 5:30 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort
Smith. Mass will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
in Fort Smith with burial at Roland City Cemetery.

"James Waite Mayfield, 80, of Navarre, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Navarre. He was born in Hollywood, Calif. He was retired as the postmaster of Moffett and worked previously for Aetna Life and Casualty and as a crop duster, primarily for Nelson Rockefeller Farms in Venezuela. He also was a veteran of World War II and flew in the Army Corps.
His affiliations while in this area included: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Quiet Birdmen, Knights of Columbus, Rotary International, American Legion, I.C. Mens Club, Fort Smith Optimist Club, Red Cross swimming instructor, masters swimming competitor and past president of Wally Bynum
International Air Stream Association of Green Country. He was also a volunteer coach for the Fort Smith Boys Club Swim Team.
He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Mayfield; his mother, Agnes Gill Mayfield; a daughter, Catherine Patricia Mayfield; and a son, James B. Mayfield.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine "Tina" Mayfield; a son, John M. Mayfield of Yukon, Okla; two daughters, Mary Ann Crews Klefisch, stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and Jane Mayfield Smart of Boyce, LA; a sister, Catherine A. Beargie of Lexington, KY; and four grandsons, James,
Nathan, Stuart and Will Mayfield, all of Yukon.
Pallbearers will be Ray and Ed Seiter, John Didion, Dr. Williams Holmes, AL Nolte and Jerry Miller."
Rosary service will be 5:30 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort
Smith. Mass will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
in Fort Smith with burial at Roland City Cemetery.
