The humble petition of J. M. C. Mayfield sheweth that his sister, Elizabeth Ellmore deceased left these orphaned children viz John Ellmore Wm Ellmore and Amanda Elizabeth Ellmore and since her death that his father George Mayfield died in the state of Georgia, Cherokee County leaving a small estate due to said minors, supposed to be worth to said minors some two hundred and forty or fifty dollars, and that they cannot draw said estate or legacy. Without the appointment of a guardian ---- your petitioner therefore prays to be appointed guardian for the said three minor children and your petitioner will ever pray.
