The following were abstracted from a box located in the
basement of the Maury County Court House, labeled “School Papers, 1853”.
They are requests from the school commissioners of the various districts to
the County Trustee for payment of teacher’s salaries. District 1 was not in
this box. (Abstracted by Virginia W. Alexander for the "Historic Maury,
