COOKE CEMETERY (Western) MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

Instructions 2008 (different): From Williamsport, take Cross Bridges Rd. and go 1 & 1/2 miles. Turn left on Jimmy Gray Robinson Road. After about 1 & 1/4 miles or when the road bends northward 90 degrees go into the private drive (with permission) and the cemetery will be on your left after you travel 300 yards into the drive. You should see it out in the field if the map calculations are correct.

Instruction by Mr. Fred 1988: From Williamsport, take Cross Bridges Rd. and go three miles. The cemetery is south of road on old Leonard Johnson place. It is on a small knoll beyond barns in a field covered with broom sage and bushes.

1987 Commentary by Mr Fred: The above markers are inside a fence. Outside are many graves marked by fieldstones. They are probably the burial places of family slaves. Only one of these has a marker with an inscription:

SLONE, W. M., 23 May 1845. 24-09-00. (He died prior to the slaves being freed lending evidence to the above commentary)
