YOKLEY CEMETERY, (Hwy 245 & Smith Hollow Rd) GILES COUNTY TENNESSEE

The two box tombs of D. A. Alexander and Sophronia Alexander & their infant babe. The tomb closer to us is for D.A. & the shorter tomb beyond that is for Sophronia and her unnamed infant son. Photo by Trina Boyd 10 Oct 2009.

"SACRED to the memory of Sophronia, her infant son & Consort & son of D.A. Alexander & Daughter of Andrew & Delia Yokley who departed this life Oct 15th 1851, Aged 33 years, 10 Months & 7 days. Her illness was of short duration which she bore with fortitude_ _ _ _ _ "
There is one epitaph along with the vital information, but the epitaph is hard to read. The Suns ray improve the readability, but cause the shadows to be more of a challenge. A Black Cherry tree trunk on the south side of the tomb is growing around the base and should be eliminated before it causes damage.
