John owned land near Martin's Branch of the Pocatalico River (presumably) just over the Putnam County line since most family information has been recorded in Putnam County. However, his widow and her daughter, who was the widow of his son Samuel, are recorded on the 1870 Kanawha Co. census. (See notes for them: each had remarried and was in Putnam Co, WV in the 1880 census.)
