On this I see the graves of my grandfather, Frank Matthews, his son Sam Matthews and other members of my family. They were from Chase, Louisiana. In fact, I remember when my mother and aunt got together and had the marker put in place for their father, Frank (Benjamin Franklin Matthews). He died in his 30s from pneumonia. His son, Sam (my uncle) died at age 5 from diptheria. My grandmother was Laura Tabor Matthews. The Samuel Harmon Matthew is my great grandfather. However, I have him as the son of John Matthew and Tabitha. ( Not Seaborn Caswell Matthews) I have Lod Matthews (Loderick Matthews) as the brother of Samuel Harmon Matthews. His wife was Mattie Horne Matthews. I got this information from my great grandmother (Mary Chavers Matthews family bible that is in my sister's possession. All the names and dates are there and correspond to the ones on the tombstones. She lists the parents of Samuel Harmon and Loderick Matthews as being John and Tab Matthews. The children as listed in the bible were: Almeda, Hulda, John L., Samuel, Benjamin, Martha, Loderick and Lazarus.
