Ralph Sloan married Leatha Fleshman on January 22,1946

Ralph served in The Navy during WWII ,Ralph was home on leave, and they decided to elope, they found that their love could not wait.
It lasted a life time.....

And awaits the moment that once again they will stand before their God together again........

Ralph Sloan meant his bride Leatha while in the 7the grade at school ,he sit behind her desk and would pick on her in the teasing manner that he had all his life ,they both came from coal mining family's and lived in the same small coal mining town of Bellburn West Virginia.
WWII Came in Ralph along with two of his brothers joined the armed forces ,Ralph served in the Navy where his two brothers served in the Army.
When Ralph came home on leave before shipping out the two decided that they did not..,could not..wait .
So on January 22,1946 Ralph married the woman he loved Leatha Fleshman.

When the war ended the young married couple set up housekeeping in McRoss, WVA. ,Ralph went to work in the Rainelle Lumber Co.where they made shoe heels,
Leatha Louella their first daughter was born in McRoss.

The family moved following Leatha's parents to York Springs Pa. sometime before 1948 where they had two more daughters Janice Susan and Patricia Jean.
This completed the family.

The Daughters of ralph Sloan and Leatha Fleshman

Baby Patty Sloan---Janice Sloan---Louella Sloan

Of all the Sloan brothers Ralph was the most like his father Dock.
He to was a tall gentle man ,soft spoken, caring man that loved his God and his family. One of my last memories of Ralph was when he and Leatha were spending a month at the campgrounds where most of the Fleshmans spend their summers.
Upon my arrival to visit I saw Ralph sitting on a tree stump holding a fishing rod in his hand as if he were fishing,as I walked over to him I noticed a peanut tied to the bottom of the line.I asked him what he was doing he told me to sit down beside him and to be real quite and I would see.
It wasn't to long before a tiny chipmunk
came up to pull the peanut from the line,Ralph laughted as he tied another peanut to the line ,he told me that he had spend an hour playing with this little guy,and this Gods creature would not go hungry this winter. As many bags of peanuts that were fed to this little guy I imagined that the whole forest of chipmunks did not go hungry since it was more then any one tiny animal could have consumed.
But that was the kind of man that Ralph was he could find so much pleasure and joyment out of the most common little

things in life ,things that most people would overlook and pass by..

I can almost picture him now ...sitting beneath a tree beside a stream laughing softly and playing with the small creature's of God's Kingdom

WAITING.......
