Short Time Memory

Still Able to recall events of a long time ago?
Do not ask me what I did yesterday, for I do not know
Age plays many tricks but mostly in your mind
It is my short term memory that I can no longer find
Going into the room and asking myself why I am there
Others ask me questions and only get a blank stare
Childhood memories are clear and distinct like they happened yesterday
Sometimes having a tough time just to get out of my own way
The brevity of retention is a pure factor of our age
Like what was it I read on the previous page
It is not senility but the ability to recollect
Some things are now hanging when they use to be erect
Hair becomes thinner and changes color over time
Sad to say but then do you remember when a phone call was only a dime
Writing notes to oneself is a necessity to get things done
Today we will only walk while the younger ones will run
Excersise and reading are two ways to keep your mind alive
Do not forget to take your meds if you wish for your health to thrive
Laugh as much as you can at all the things you do
Your legacy is in remembering the things you once knew
