Sunset Over Mull

Bunessan Mull
There is a piece of the Isle of Mull that protrudes from the island on the lower west part, and is known as the Ross of Mull. Bunessan is on the north coast of the Ross of Mull, on the Isle of Mull. It's a very beautiful area. This is a picture of that area and town of Bunessan . Catherine Black (b.1830), our G.Grandmother was born here. This is in Argyllshire which is in the highlands of Scotland.

Low Tide, Bunessan
Boy! When the tide goes out, it really does.

We are looking at this little isle directly north across the sea from Bunessan. It is one of the many little peninsula type islands that are all around the Isle of Mull coastline. Some of our family may have lived here also.

Country Lane, Gorebridge
A lovely road in Gorebridge This is where George Young (1814), grandson of George Young and Margaret Low, was born. Some of his and Mary Morrison's children (Mary, Annie, John, George) were also born here. John Young, a 3rd g grandson, married to Christina Simpson also raised their family here. These are just some examples of the many Youngs who lived here. My own grandmother, Margaret Young, and many of her siblings were born here.

Main Street, Loanhead
Another town where Youngs were found. Note the "Row Houses" on the right side. These were the kinds of homes provided for the miners and their families. Many families were crowded into these flats.

Dalkeith, High St.
Dalkeith was and is a pretty large city among all these smaller mining towns. Lots of Young family members were born and lived here.

I'd like to thank a good friend, Diane Wintch, for her help in getting this web page up. I appreciated her advise on how to work with pictures, although I'm still learning of course. She has a beautiful genealogy website, www.dianneelizabeth.com/index.html - Dianne Elizabeth's Family History - and has done much in the field of genealogy and website design. I've referred to her website many a times.
