Note that naming conventions are inconsistent and are based on making it easy to find duplicate individuals. Many German names are styled "von ..." even if "zur ..." or "van der ..." are more appropriate. Many French and Spanish names are styled "de ..." or d' ..." and many Italian names "di ...", even if the family names were never written in that fashion. Likewise, I use special characters that don't appear on US keyboards, where those characters are listed in the sources consistently. I consistently style Royal families "of England" or "of France" of "of Poland" or "of Sicily" even if surnames Plantagenet, Valois, Capet, Welf and other royal names are occasionally shown. I welcome corrections and notes about speculative links that should have disclaimers. |
