Hello!  I am an amateur genealogist, and this is your door to my family history.  Please take a moment to read the information on this page, as it will help you find your way around.

There are some hot links, which are blue and underlined, in various places, they should help  speed up your travels.  Remember, this is my homepage, to return here, click the homepage hot links.  You can always use your back button if you get lost.

My hat is off to Rootsweb for providing this free space to me.  Please consider using their sponsor's products, as that helps fund this project.

If you enjoy music, I have placed a few  little tunes here and there, just for fun.  When you find a song title, click on it to change the tune or choose the song list below and find something you like.  Whichever selection you make, you can always go to the song list to choose another or turn your player off.  Adjust the volume from your player.   After making your selection, you can minimize your player and get on with the genealogy.  Listening to the music is encouraged, not required.  Remember "Music hath charm to sooth the savage breast".  If these midi files don't work on your computer, please let me know. Tell me which browser you use, what media player you have and anything strange that occurs when you select a song.   Maybe someday I will get that medley working.....

Pick a song from the list.

Plenty of time? Come with me and let's get acquainted.

Marianne Victory Purdy's

Family Genealogy

Come in, please.  I am so glad you were able to find me.  Have a seat; no, not that one, sit here by the fire and let's have some tea.  What kind?  It's mountain tea that I picked in Idaho up about 7000 feet.  The botanical name?  Oh, well that's an old Indian secret.  Comfortable? Good, now let's talk about family.  I am always happy to share with genealogical cousins and other shirt-tail relations.

I have limited these pages to six generations to prevent this site being slow and unwieldy. I may change that when I learn a little more about this html and other technogeek stuff.  Nice word, technogeek.  Got it from Cousin Eve, who tells me she is one.  Nice people, technogeeks.

The index contains only my direct ancestors.  The text does contain siblings of my direct ancestors and their spouses, when known.  If you find a surname that fits, but not the individual, contact me. I have many more family members and generations in my home files.  Any of the sixth generation who show parents indicate that I have more information.  I also will share my sources with you.

I have used the Awful Falafel numbering system.  What?  Oh, well yes, some people do call it the Ahnentafel system.  Simply put, that means I am Number 1.  Well, of course!  The men are all even numbers, the women odd.  Hmm, yes, it was invented by a man.  My father is number 2, his father is number 4 and so on.  My mother is number 3, her father is number 6 and so on.  Each man's wife's number is his number plus 1.  Simple system, really.  To find a father, multiply the individual's number by 2; to find a mother, multiply the individual's number by 2 and add 1.  Find a child by dividing the parent's number by 2; always round decimals down.

Since my family history is always a "work in progress" an occasional error may find it's way in. Remember, use my information as a guide, but verify it's accuracy, I'm not perfect you know.  If you believe I have made a mistake, tell me about it so I can make corrections, or so you can make corrections.  Please feel free to use any part of my work for non-profit purposes.

Having been fairly warned, "Come, take a walk in my moccasins".

  Let's start the genealogy.
