James and Bridget Maher moved to Joliet, Illinois, sometime after their marriage.   James

Maher’s   sister, Sarah,  Mrs. Dennis Freeman went there first from New Haven.

(Possibly, James Maher’s whole family came.  His  father, and brothers, too.)  They appeared

in the 1884 Joliet City Directory.   Also listed was Peter Cunningham  ( Annie Lynch

future husband)          

In the 1900 Census for Joliet,  Bridget  Maher, 58, widowed, lived at 128

Gardner, Joliet, with sister in law Sarah Freeman.
