Jeremiah Henry Taylor and Sarah Mays

     Jerry was born between 1828 and 1832 in Lincoln County, Tennessee and died April 11, 1908 in Wise County, Texas.  He married Sarah MAYS about 1856 in Tennessee.  Sarah was born February 12, 1835 in Franklin County, Tennessee to Bozeman MAYS and Uranna HAWS.
     Sarah died in childbirth on January 16, 1879 in Texas.  Jerry was living in Clay County, Texas during the 1880 census, possibly, most likely Sarah died there.

Family legends

• Jerry's 2nd wife and son tried to kill him over money.
• 2nd wife and her son tried to kill Jerry and left him in pool of water.
• 2nd wife hit Jerry in head with axe
• After Jerry's second marriage, Mancy was put in a Catholic School.
• At about the age of 14 (1893), Mancy stepped on a nail and died from blood poisoning.
• Jerry may have been married 2 times, Sarah Mays, and Ann Hankins.
• It is said that Sarah and Jerry had a Pheobe and Jane.  I have combined the 2 names, I may be worng.  Pheobe was born about 1857 and died in TN

Jerry has been elusive for me in the 1860 censuses.   Has anyone found his hiding place during that time period?

My late Uncle George Seymour of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, told me that he and his brothers put Jerry on the train to go to his daughter, Molly Shults, in Decatur, Texas.  Shortly after that, he died.  Several family members say that Jerry is buried by his brother, Charles Green, in the Oaklawn Cemetery at Decatur.
