Mr. N. Harr,
Dear Friend.
You will be some what surprised I know at getting a letter from me. But I
thought perhaps if I wrote to you that it might rain, you know that I would do
anything to make it rain.
Oh we are needing rain so bad I don't see what we are to do. I
believe the good Lord has forgotten us entirely. Has it rained down in
your country yet. Or have you all got the smallpox and could not tell if
it has or has not rained. We have the smallpox out here, but I don't think
it can hurt any of these people.
Our school is about out, one more week and the tale is told. We have
certainly had a good school. I don't believe there is a better school in
Medina County. How is your school? By the way, do you think I stand
any chance to get that school? I would like to get it if I could next
year.
How is Cousin Sallie and all the children. You all had better come out to
see us now. I know you are not crowded with work if you are like us out
here. Allen says he wished it would stay dry all the time, because he
doesn't have much to do.
Tell all the folks "howdy" for me.
Write and tell me what you think about my chances for the school. Excuse,
bad pencil as pa has taken the ink off to the trustee election.
With love to all I am
Your friend
Maud Tilley
