Special Telegram to the News: Joseph Meyer and Peter Fricker, two of the oldest colonists of this county died here last Thursday, March 29, 1883, the former in his 83rd year of age and the latter in his 97th. It seems quite singular that the two who have lived neighbors from boyhood to such a ripe old age should die the same day..9,10 He was buried at St Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville, Medina County.11

     Anna was born on 30 October 1838 at Frankfurt, Frankfort am Main, Hesse, Germany.2 She was the daughter of Unknown Bochner and Susanne Eleonore Westerfeld. Anna immigrated circa 1854 Germany to Texas.1 She married August Karl Ulbrich on 26 March 1861 at Hays County, Texas.3 Anna Margaretha Bochner and August Karl Ulbrich appeared on the census of 10 June 1880 at Caldwell County, Texas.4 Anna Margaretha Bochner and August Karl Ulbrich appeared on the census of 12 June 1900 at Caldwell County, Texas.4 Anna died on 21 January 1902 at Caldwell County, Texas, at age 63.2 She was buried at Koeglar Hill Cemetery, Caldwell County.2

     John was born on 19 November 1868 at Caldwell County, Texas.2 He was the son of August Karl Ulbrich and Anna Margaretha Bochner. John William Ulbrich and August Karl Ulbrich appeared on the census of 29 June 1870 at Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas, his occupation was listed as farmer.3 He married Artilia Redding on 18 December 1888 at Caldwell County, Texas.4 John William Ulbrich and Maude Eula Ulbrich appeared on the census of 1900 at Caldwell County, Texas, his occupation was listed as merchant.3 He married Lillian Maud Tilley on 27 May 1900 at Medina County, Texas.5 John William Ulbrich was deeded land at Medina County, Texas, on 5 April 1909; Per Vol 42 Pages 582-583:
Know all men by these presents, That we Guadalupe Santos and Refugeio Ozuna de Santos, husband and wife, of Medina County, Texas, for and in consideration of the sum of Eight Thousand (8000) Dollars paid and to be paid by J. W. Ulbrich as follows: Five Thousand (5000) Dollars in cash, the receipt of which is hereby fully acknowledged, and the balance as evidenced by three certain vendor lien notes of even date herewith for the sum of One Thousand (1000) Dollars, each, payable on or before January 1st. 1911, 1912 and 1913 respectively, bearing interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum fron July 1st. 1909, payable annually on January 1st. and each of said notes provide that the failure to pay the same or any installment of interest thereon when due shall, at the option of the holder of them or any of them, mature all of said notes, and each of said notes also provide that if the same is placed in the hands of an attorney for collection, or suit is brought thereon, there shall be added to the amount due a ten percent attorney's fee; and for the further consideration of the agreement of the said J. W. Ulbrich to pay off and fully discharge four vendor lien notes of the sum of Five Hundred (500) Dollars, each executed and delivered by the said Guadalupe Santos to Jno. A. Miller in part payment herein after described premises; have Granted, Sold and Conveyed, and by these presents do, Grant, Sell and Convey unto the said J. W. Ulbrich of Medina County, Texas all that certain piece, parcel and tract of land, lying and being situated in Medina County, Texas, described as follows: 32 acres of land, known as survey No. 181, originally granted to Jos. Rudinger, and patented to said Rudinger by the State of Texas, by Patent No. 7, vol, 12, dated June 14th 1855, being the same tract of land conveyed to the said Guadalupe Santos, by Jno. A. Miller, by deed, dated December 3rd. 1903, which said deed is of record in the Deed Records of Medina County, Texas, in Book A, No. 33, on page 203, to which said deed and its record reference is hereby made for a better description of said tract of land, and also of the four vendor lien notes the payment of which the said J. W. Ulbrich has assumed in part consideration for this deed.
To have and to hold the above described premises, together with all and singular, the rights and appurtenances thereto in anywise belonging, unto the said J. .W. Ulbrich, his heirs and assigns forever. And we do hereby bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, to warrant and forever defend all and singular, the said premises, unto the said J. W. Ulbrich, his heirs and assigns, against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
But it is expressly understood and agreed that a vendor's lien is retrained against the above described property, premises and approvements, until all of said notes, together with all interest due thereon, are fully paid according to their face and tenor, effect and reading, when this deed shall become absolute.

Before me, the undersigned authority, on this day personally appeared Guadalupe Santos and Refugeio Ozuna de Santos, wife of the said Guadalupe Santos, known to me to be the persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing instrument, and acknowledged to me that they executed the same for the purposes and consideration therein expressed; And the Said Refugia Osuna de Santos, wife of the said Guadalupe Santos, having been examined by me privily and apart from her husband, and having the same by me fully explained to her, she, the said Refugeio Ozuna de Santos, acknowledged such instrument to be her act and deed, and declared that __ had willingly signed the same for the purposes and consideration therein expressed, and that she did not wish to retract it.
