Declaration for Invalid Pension.

Act of June 27, 1890.

 

State of Iowa, County of Marion, SS:

 

ON THIS 19 day of July, A. D. One thousand eight hundred and ninety personally appeared before me, a Clerk of Court within and for the County and State aforesaid, William G. Sands aged 63 years, a resident of the town of Gosport County of Marion, State of Iowa, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical William G. Sands who was ENROLLED on the ?1st? day of March, 1865 in Co K. 3rd Regiment Ills Cav Vols in the war of the rebellion, and served at least ninety days, and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Camp Butler Ills. On the 10 day of October, 1865.  That he is Totaly unable to earn a support by reason of Rheumatism, Heart Disease and Rupture of back ?Sections? and Lame right foot.  That said disabilities are not due to his vicious habits, and are to the best of his knowledge and belief permanent.  That he has never applied for pension ………  That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension-roll of the United States under the provisions of the Act of June 27, 1890.  He hereby appoints A. B.

?Barbst? of Knoxville Iowa his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim.

That his POST OFFICE ADDRESS is Gosport County of Marion State of Iowa

 Also personally appeared T. T. Stevenson, residing at Knoxville Ia and S. H. Mears residing at Knoxville Ia, persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me duly sworn, say they were present and saw William G. Sands, the claimant, sign his name (or make his mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of said claimant and their acquaintance with him for 15 years and 15 years, respectively, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be; and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.

 And I hereby certify that the contents of the above declaration, &c., were fully made known and explained to the applicant and witnesses before swearing, including the words erased, and the words added; and that I have no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim.

William G. Sands Co. K. 3 Reg’t Ill Cavy was enrolled Mch 10, 1865, and M. O. Oct. 10, 1865 with-Co.  From In.d., 186_, to M.O., 186_, he held the rank of Pvt and during that period the rolls show him present.  Born Montogomery Co Ills, Age 24 yrs, farmer, eyes hazel, hair black, comp?o? fair, height 5 ft. 8 in.  The medical records show him treated as follows:  No record found.
