This is a record of my husband’s family, the Jones of South Carolina. The earliest known ancestor of this Jones’ family is Levin (or Leven) Jones. Levin was born on 08 May 1838 presumably in Abbeville County, South Carolina. I believe him to be the son of Zacheriah R. and Susannah Jones who are listed on the 1850 and 1860 Abbeville County censuses. Levin married Margaret Agnes Branyon, also a resident of Abbeville County, and he later lived in Anderson and Oconee counties of South Carolina and perhaps Georgia. When his first wife, Margaret, died in 1902, Levin married Jane Long. Levin died 08 July 1917 and is buried at Return Baptist Church Cemetery near Seneca, South Carolina along with his second wife, Jane.

I have attempted to document any conclusions I have made regarding this family, but please keep in mind that some of the assumptions are unproven at this time.
