Phyllis Jean Erlwein, age 73, a 34 year resident of Goldvein, Virginia went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 15, 2009 at her residence.

Phyllis was born July 19, 1936 in Swords Creek, Virginia, daughter of Gaines George and Mattie Jackson Plaster. She was a member of Riverside First Church of God and had retired from IBM. She loved to bowl and spend time with her family. She never wavered from her faith, even during 15 years of medical adversities and always put God first in her life. Phyllis led her husband, George to the Lord and was instrumental in bringing many others to the saving knowledge of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gaines George Plaster; one sister, Sylvia Ball and one brother, Ned Plaster.

Survivors include her loving husband, George C. Erlwein; her mother, Mattie Plaster; four children, Douglas Childress and wife Sue, David Childress and wife Shelia, Harry Childress and wife Pam and Darlene Clark and husband Jack; two brothers, Jack Plaster and Ted Plaster; one sister, Evelyn Ray; 13 grand-children and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Hannah Taylor who recently adopted George and Phyllis as her grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 with Pastor Matt Taylor officiating.
