OBITUARY

Last rites for F G Whited, age 84, were conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs E H McConnell, here on Oct 26 with Rev James B Craft officiating. Interment was at Holston View Cemetary. Mr. Whited died late Thursday at the McConnell home after a 5 week illness.

He was a native of Russell Co and came to Scott Co. about 1895. He lived in Big Mocassin Valley near Snowflake. He moved to Gate City, Va around 1903. He was a widely known and highly regarded building contractor

He is survived by his children: J R Whited, Jenkins, Ky. N D Whited, Nickelsville, Va. C W Whited, Gate City; Mrs Chas Hilton, Nickesville; Mrs John Perry, Odessa, Mo; Mrs W E Reynolds, Elizabethton, Tn; and Mrs E H McConnell. His wife died in 1932.

Sarilda Jane FLETCHER [Parents] was born 23 Dec 1854 in Honaker, Russell Co. VA. She died 30 Nov 1932 in Hiltons, Scott Co., VA. Sarilda married Felix Grundy WHITED on 26 Feb 1872 in Honaker, Russell Co., VA.

Birth records in Russell County, VA show that Sarilda was born in 1854, not 1853 as appears on her tombstone and death record.
