Edward DeWayne Byrd, age 44 of Raven, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at a Bristol hospital following a brief illness.
He was the son of Sylvia Bostic Byrd of Raven, Virginia. and the late Edward Lee Byrd . DeWayne was a graduate of Richlands High School class of 1982 and he was a former member of the National Guard and was a lifetime resident of the area.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Byrd.

Several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive him.
Funeral services will conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Revs. Jerry Welch and Danny Altizer officiating. Interment will follow at the Byrd Family cemetery on Road Ridge near Raven, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Cheyenne Harris, Brandon Byrd, Rick Shortt, Quincy Adams, Ronnie Hess, Tommy Reedy, Timothy Boyd, Gary Hess, and Jake Shortt. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands from 6-9 pm on Sunday, March 8, 2009.
