Charles Robert EATON Sr. [Parents] "Charlie, Shag" was born 18 Nov 1932 in Honaker, Russell Co., VA. He died 22 Jan 2009 in Johnson City, TN. Charlie, Shag married Ida Virginia HESS on 1963.
HONAKER, Va. Mr. Charlie "Shag" Robert Eaton, age 76, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, in a Johnson City, Tenn., hospital.
Born Nov. 18, 1932, in Honaker, he was a son of the late Reece and Dora Ward Eaton.
A lifelong resident of the Honaker area, he was a town councilman from 1982 to 1994. He attended Honaker Church of God and had owned and operated City Auto Sales and City Garage in Honaker. He was a member of VFW Post 9864 andAmerican Legion Post 208, and a former member of Odd Fellows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel M. Eaton and Carl "Peanut" Eaton.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ida Virginia Eaton of the home; one son, Charles Robert Eaton Jr. of Honaker; three grandchildren, Victoria Leeann Eaton, Bret Cheyenne Eaton and Taylor Faith Eaton, all of Honaker; one brother, James Eaton of Honaker; two sisters, Helen Hillman of Bristol Virginia and Geraldine Thompson of Galion, Ohio; and and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with the Rev. Harless Hess and Pastor Larry Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Va. Military graveside honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Taylor, Chad Taylor, Donald Hess, Brandon Cassell, T.J. Hale, John Proffitt, Dewell Stevens and Darrell Davis.
