William H. Plank
WILLIAM H. PLANK was born June 10, 1854 in Cannon twp., Kent Co. Michigan1. He died after March 1907 and probably before October 31,1925 2. In addition, in 1907 he was said to have been living in Little Rock, Arkansas.3 He was the son of JAMES PLANK and SUSAN M. BUTTS.
According to the family bible of his sister, AMY D. PLANK, William was married to FLORENCE POWELL who was born on January 29, 1879. (William was 25 years older than Florence.) 4
The following is a family story recorded by ERMA M. BLETT COLE regarding WILLIAM H. PLANK:
The son, William Plank, acted as Federal Marshall when he became grown. His early assignments included the hunt for Jesse James and his gang, and other now famous western outlaws. Later he became a railroader on the Missouri Pacific and associated lines. He was living at Little Rock, Arkansas when he died.
(None of the items in this story have been proven yet. In addition, I have found no records--such as census, city directory, or death certificate--for William H. Plank in Little Rock, Arkansas.)
The following photograph is supposedly of William Plank and his wife Florence. It is unknown whether the little girl is William's daughter or perhaps the daughter of Florence from a previous marriage. (The location and photographer are not printed on the photograph.)
