SCHULZE Reunion 2003

May 18, 2003 at Lincoln Park's shelter house #3 in Pittsburg, Kansas was the site for the Schulze family reunion hosted by Cindy Marcell. Cindy is the granddaughter of Paul & Morean Schulze. All descendants of Henry W. and Pauline (Roloff) Schulze that had known contact information were invited. Henry & Pauline had 12 kids with 11 of them growing into adults, Henry also had a son prior to leaving Germany with Marie Dorothee Burmeister whose descendants were contacted as well. The Burmeister family remains in Germany to this day, while the Schulze family emmigrated to America in about 1897 and settled in Pittsburg. At that time it was only Henry, Pauline and their first child, Ernest, that made this venture by ship. The remaining 11 children were all born in Pittsburg, Kansas. 12 out of the possible 13 branches had at least one contact person for this reunion. Of the 12 branches there were 2 that had no descendants, with 6 of the remaining branches being represented ! These branches were: Ernest & Gesine Schultze, Martha (Schulze) & Ira Sharp, William & Hilma Schulze, Morean (Hoskins) & Paul E. Schulze, Erick & Ethel Schulze, and Arthur & Frieda Schulze.

The weather was absolutely wonderful with the sun shining and the temperature in the mid 70's. There was an abundance of tasty food and good conversation. Erick R. Schulze, age 90, was the guest of honor & the eldest living Schulze descendant present. A number of relatives met family for the first time with many others meeting relations they had not seen in over 20 years! Some brought old photos, laptop computers and scanners, cameras and all brought memories of days gone by.
