Orlando Elijah Phelps KAPLE was born April 17, 1818 the son of Orlando Edward and Polly FLINT KAPLE and died September 16, 1891. He married Rhoda Janette LANPHEAR February 12, 1839 . Rhoda Janette LANPHEAR was born September 27, 1818 the daughter of John and Cynthia COATS LANPHEAR and died MAy 9, 1898. They are buried in the Green Brother's Farm, East Valley Road, Alfred.
THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of Orlando E.P. Kaple of the town of
Alfred, County of Allegany and State of New York.
I, Orlando E.P. Kaple aware of the uncertainty of life, do make, ordain, publish
and declare this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following,
that is to say: After the payment of my funeral charges, the expenses of
administering my estate, and my lawful debts, I give devise and bequeath my
property as follows:
First: I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Roda Jennet Kaple the use of all
the property which I shall own at the time of my death during the term of her
natural life if she shall be living at the time of my death.
Second: I give devise and bequeath all the property which I shall own at the
time of my death unto my four children Mary P. Chase, Frank J. Kaple, William G.
Kaple and Eugene E. Kaple to be divided between them share and share alike.
Subject however to the right of my said wife to leave the use of the same during
the term of her natural life if she shall out live me. It is not extended to
give my grand children Giles H. Paul E. and Agnes Kaple anything by this will,
they having received their portion of my estate.
Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint Samuel P. Burdick of the town of Alfred
said County to be executor of my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all
former Wills by me made.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the
First day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and

SURROGATE COURT ALLEGANY COUNTY: IN THE MATTER OF PROVING THE
WILL OF ORLANDO E.P. KAPLE DECEASED: To the Honorable M. Norton,
Surrogate This petition of Samuel P. Burdick of the town of Alfred in said
County of Allegany respectfully show that he is the executor named in the last
will of Orlando E.P. Kaple, and your petitioner states upon information and
belief that the said Orlando E.P. Kaple died on or about the 16 day of
September, 1891
at said town of Alfred which was his place of residence at the time of his
death; that the instrument herewith presented proporting to be the last will and
testament of said deceased bearing date the first day of August 1890. Your
petitioner verily believes to be such last will and testament and that it
relates to both real and personal estates and your petitioner further states as
aforesaid that the said deceased left him surviving his widow Roda Jennette
Kaple residing at Alfred in said County. Mary P. his children Mary P. Chase,
William G. Kaple and Eugene E. Kaple residing at Alfred, New York and Frank
J. Kaple residing in the town of Hartsville in the county of Steuben, New York
and his grand children Giles H. Kaple, Paul E. Kaple and Agnes Kaple residing in
the town of Andover, Allegany county, New York who are all and the only heirs at
Law ______ of ___ said deceased.
Your petitioner therefore prays that a citation may issue to said heirs at law
and not of kin to the deceased requiring them to appear in this court on such
day as shall seem meet to attend the probate of said last will and testament

TO THE SURROGATE'S COURT OF THE COUNTY OF ALLEGANY, IN THE STATE
OF NEW YORK--The Petition of William G. Kaple of Alfred, in the County of
Allegany, and State of New York, respectfully shows: That Jannette Kaple as
resident of the town of Alfred, County of Allegany, State of New York, died on
the nineth day of May, 1898 at Alfred, in the County of Allegany, State of New
York, without leaving a last will and testament, to the best of your
petitioner's knowledge, information and belief.
That the said decedent died possessed of certain personal property within this
State and County; and as your petitioner is informed and believes, the value of
the said personal property (together with the probable amount to be recovered by
reason of any right of action granted an administrator of the said decedent, by
special provision of law) does not exceed the sum of six hundred dollars, an the
value of the real property of which the said decedend died possessed does not
exceed the sum of no dollars.
That the said decedent left her surviving no husband in the State of New York,
that the following named persons are all the next of kin of the said decedent,
and that their relationship to said decedent and their respective places of
residence, as far as they are known to your petitioner, or can be ascertained by
him with due diligence, are as set opposite their names respectfully, as

That your petitioner is the eldest son of the said decedent.
That no petition for a grant of letters of administration upon the said estate
has been filed in any Surrogate's Court of this State, as your petitioner is
informed and believes.
Your petitioner therefore prays for a decree awarding letters of administration
upon the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, to your petitioner
William G. Kaple or that a citation may be issued to all persons having a right
to administration, prior or equal to that of your petitioner, to show cause why
such decree should not be made and for such other order or decree as may be just

Ruby Janette KAPLE born May 23, 1840 and died March 2, 1859. She married George Lambert.
Mary Parthenia KAPLE born December 22, 1842 and died June 17, 1909. She married Sylvester Chase. She is buried in the Green Brothers Farm Cemetery in Alfred, NY
John A. KAPLE born October 21, 1845 and died October 5, 1850. He is buried in the Green Brothers Farm Cemetery Alfred, NY.
Charles Henry KAPLE was born July 26, 1849 and died October 9, 1877. He married Mary Elizabeth PERKINS October 5, 1871. Their children were Giles Herbert Caple, Paul Elijah Caple, and Mary Agnes Caple.
Frank James CAPLE was born October 7, 1852 and died June 2, 1893. He married Elizabeth Anne HAYES the daughter of Milo and Mary Jane JENKINS HAYES October 7, 1874 in Hartsville, NY. She was born May 23, 1855 and died September 1, 1944. They are buried in the Hartsville Center Cemetery. Their children were: Fred Milo Caple, Nellie May Caple, Floyd Russell Caple, Hattie Belle Caple, and Willie Frank Caple.
William G. KAPLE was born on October 24, 1855 and died on April 30, 1909. He married Prudence BURDICK on October 25, 1879. She was born July 16, 1862 and died February 12, 1931. Their daughter was Elizabeth Janette KAPLE.
Eugene E. KAPLE was born December 7, 1857 and died on June 22, 1921. He married Carrie CARTWRIGHT on July 3, 1877. Their son was James E. KAPLE.
Alice May Kaple was born March 8, 1860 and died December 31, 1863. She is buried in the Green Brothers Farm Cemetery in Alfred, NY.
