Floyd Russell CAPLE/Lola Delle CROSS

 Floyd Russell CAPLE was born June 30, 1880 and died February 23, 1952.  He married Lola Delle CROSS September 24, 1902 the daughter of Samuel Stacey and Carrie Lavina WILSON (GRANGER) CROSS.  She was born October 9, 1884 and died December 16, 1957.  They are buried in the Hartsville Center Cemetery, Hartsville NY.  

           

Floyd Russell Caple died early today at his home on the Purdy Creek Road. He was 71 years old.
Caple was born in Alfred and had been a resident of Purdy Creek Road for the last 16 years. He has been an invalid forthe past eight years and was employed at the Erie Railroad Shops in Hornell as a Blacksmith's helper utnil he retired seven years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Lola Cross Caple, at home; a son, Samuel Caple of Wayland; Three daughters Mrs. Ira Davis of Salamanca, Mrs. Russell Stiles of Little Ferry, NJ and Mrs. Donald Miles of Hornell RFD. Eight grandchildren and a great grandchild.
The body is at Curry's Funeral Home on Canisteo Street where services will be held at 2 pm Monday. The Rev. Abraham Garippa of Hornell will officiate and burial will be in the Hartsville Center Cemetery. (Hornell Evening Tribune)

OBITUARY--MRS. FLOYD R. CAPLE
Mrs. Lola D. Caple of Hornell RFD 1, widow of Floyd R. Caple, died yesterday afternoon at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell where she had been a patient for the past five weeks. She was 73 years old.
She was born in the Town of Canisteo.
Survivors include one son, Samuel of Dansville; three daughters, Mrs. Ira Davis of Poland, NY, Mrs. Russell Stiles of Little Ferry, NJ, and Mrs. Donald Miles of Hornell; two sisters, Mrs. J. Roy Clark of Canisteo, and Mrs. Hugh Kenyon of Hornell; her stepmother, Mrs. Ada Wilson of Hornell; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The body is at Curry's Funeral Home in Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday with the Rev. George A. Parmelee, pastor of the Baptist Church in Canisteo, officiating. Burial will be in Hartsville Center Cemetery.

OBITUARY--MRS. FLOYD CAPLE
After four weeks of hospitalization in St. James Mercy Hospital, Mrs. Lola Cross Caple passed away on December 16, 1957. She was born in Canisteo in 1884, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cross of that place and lived there during her girlhood. Following her marriage to Floyd Caple, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Caple of Hartsville, in 1902, they resided in his home town most of their married life. Her husband preceeded her in death in 1952.
Surviving her are: a son, Samuel Caple of Dansvillel; three daughters, Mrs. Eloise Davis of Poland, NY, Mrs. Francis Stiles of Little Ferry, NJ, and Mrs. Marian Miles of Hornell RFD 1. Also two sisters; Mrs. Daisy Clark of Canisteo and Mrs. Louise Kenyon of the Hornell-Canisteo Road; a step-grandmother, Mrs. Ada Wilson of Hornell; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral was held December 19, from the Curry Funeral Home in Hornell. The Rev. George Parmalee, pastor of the Canisteo Baptist and Hartsville Churches officiated. Burial was made at Hartsville Center Cemetery. (Canisteo Times)

Samuel Eugene CAPLE was born April 16, 1905 and died November 26, 1984.  He married Marge MCHENRY before 1928.  She was born December 17, 1910. Their son was Richard CAPLE.  He married secondly Irene MATHERS February 18, 1956 She was born June 11, 1913.  He married thirdly Mabel SMITH ASHBAUGH April  27, 1957 She was born Apri 29, 1906.

                                        

INTERLACHEN--Samuel E. Caple, 79, died Monday at his home after a sudden illness. A native of New York, he lived in Interlachen 17 years, coming from Dansville, NY where he retired as a welder from Foster Wheeler Corporation. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, and a member Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Caple of Interlachen; one step son Durwood William Ashbaugh of Phenix City, Ala; three sisters Eloise Davis of Alfred Station, NY Marian Miles of Hartsville, NY and Francis Stiles of New Jersey; and one grandchild, Brenda Lynn Moseley of Middleburg.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 pm at Palatea Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Everett officiating. Flag presentation will be made by the Putnam County Veterans Council.

 

 Russell Charles CAPLE was born April 29, 1906 and died August 24, 1906.  He is buried in the Hartsville Center Cemetery Hartsville, NY.

Carrie Eloise CAPLE was born September 2, 1907 and died October 7, 1999.  She married Ira Leslie DAVIS on November 13, 1926.  He was the son of Leslie Hall and Sarah Jane PIERCE DAVIS.  Their children were:  Geraldine DAVIS, Ira Leon DAVIS, and Lola Jane DAVIS

                  

OBITUARY--ELOISE C. DAVIS
ALFRED STATION--Eloise C. Davis, 92, of East Valley Rd., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 at the home of her daughter, Geraldine (Francis) Goss at 220 N. Lackawanna St., Wayland, where she had been for the past week.
She was born Sept. 2, 1907, in the Town of Hartsville, the daughter of Floyd and Lola Cross Caple. She was married Nov. 13, 1926 in Canisteo, to Iral L. Davis, who died in 1990. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lola Fursman in March 1999.
Eloise has resided in the Alfred Station area since 1963 and was a member of Kanakadea Chapter #626 O.E.S. of Alfred, where she had served as "Martha" for 27 years. She was a member of the Almond Union of Churches and Alfred Senior Citizens.
Survivors besides her daughter include, a son, Ira (Sylvia) Davis of Holland Patent, NY; a sister, Marian Miles of Hartsville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, Where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Michelle Ormsby officiating. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery. Alfred. Kanakadea Chapter #626 will conduct an Eastern Star memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. (Hornell Evening Tribune, October 8, 1999)

OBITUARY--- IRA L. DAVIS
ALFRED STATION - Ira L. Davis, 83, of East Valley Road, Alfred Station, died Wednesday (July 18, 1990) at his home following a long illness.
Born July 22, 1906, in AlFred, a son of Leslie and Sarah Pierce Davis, he was married Nov. 13, 1926, in Canisteo, to the former Eloise Caple, who survives.
A life-long resident of Aifred, he was earlier engaged in farming, and later manager several GLF feed stores including Arkport, Ulysses, Pa., Salamanca, Poland, Holland Patent and Auburn, for 20 years, retiring in 1963. More recently he was employed in the custodial department at Alfred State College, retiring from there in 1971.
A member and serving as tiler for 10 years of University Lodge No. 994 F&AM of Alfred, he also was a past patron of Kanacadea Chapter No 626 Order of Eastern Star of Alfred. He was a member Alfred Senior Citizens and an avid gardener. He belonged to the Almond Union of Churches. , Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Geraldine Goss of Waylanad and Lola 
Fursman of Holland Patent; one son, Ira Davis of Holland Patent; five grandchildren, four greatgranddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Robertson Funeral Home in Hornell where a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Alfred Station.
University Lodge No 994 F&AM will conduct a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.

Frances Lucile CAPLE was born January 5, 1909 and died October 28, 1996.  She married Russell Edwin STILES on June 3, 1927.  He was the son of Roderic and Bessie HALL STILES.  He was born March 8, 1905 and died October 14, 1981.  Their children were:  Gladys Lola STILES, Carolyn Louise STILES, and Russell Eugene STILES.

RUSSELL E. STILES, 76, of Little Ferry died Wednesday. He was a blacksmith for the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railroad before retiring in 1970 and a life member of the Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge 1506. Surviving are his wife, Frances Caple Stiles; a daughter, Carolyn Gorris of Reno, Nev.,; a son, Russell Jr. of Little Ferry, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Elks services will be tonight at 8 at the Vorhees Funeral Home, Ridgefield Park. The funeral will be tomorrow at 10am with burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Fred Roy CAPLE was born January 29, 1911 and died  March 22, 1911.  He is buried in the Hartsville Center Cemetery Hartsville, NY

Marian Beatrice CAPLE was born January 30, 1930.  She married Donald Eldred MILES on November 20, 1948.  He was the son of Jesse James and Ica Berdina CLARK MILES.  He was born July 15, 1927 and died December 3, 1974.  Their children were:  Darwin Eldred MILES, Patricia Arlene MILES, Larry Dale MILES, Linda Marie MILES, Lois Elaine MILES, Darrel Gene MILES, Laura Ann MILES and Marlene Ica MILES.

OBITUARY DONALD E MILES
Donald E, Miles, 47, of Hornell RD 1 was dead on arrival early this morning at St. James Mercy Hospital where he was taken by Canisteo ambulance.
A native of Brookfield, Pa., he had lived in the Troupsburg area and for the past 26 years resided in Hartsville. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Corporal Joseph J. Mooney Post No. 2250, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a foreman for Asplundh Tree Experts where he was employed 25 years.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Marian Caple Miles; three sons, Darwin of Hornell RD 1, Specialist 4c Larry D. with the U.S. Army in Germany, Darrel at home; five daughters, Mrs. Terry Mann of Hornell·RD 1, Mrs. Linda Hoskins of Hornell, Lois, Laura and Marlene at home; six brothers, Eldon of North Fork, Pa., A. Duane of Clinton, N.C., Gale and Elwood of Hornell RD 1, Jesse of Addison and Philip Webb of Hornell· RD 1; two sisters, Mrs. George Bliss of Painted Post RD, Mrs. William Smith of Almond, and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the H.P. Smith and Son Funeral Home, Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Truscott will officiate. Burial will be in Hartsville Center Cemetery. OBITUARY--DONALD E. MILES
HORNELL -- Donald E. Miles, 47, of Hornell RD 1 died today enroute to St. James' Mercy Hospital here, of apparent natural causes.
He was employed for 25 years for the Asplundh Tree Experts firm, serving last as foreman. He was a veteran of World War Two and a member of Mooney VFW Post at Hornell.
He had resided in the Hornell area 26 years.
Mr. Miles was born in Brookfield, Pa. July 15, 1927, a son of Jesse and Ica Clark Miles.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Caple Miles, to whom he had been wed 26 years; three sons, Darwin of Hornell RD 1, Spec. 4 Larry D. Miles with the U.S. Army in Germany and Darrel Miles at home.
Also, five daughters, Mrs. Terry Mann of Hornell·RD 1, Mrs. Linda Hoskins of Hornell and Misses Lois, Laura and Marlene at home.
Also, six brothers, Eldon of Northford, Pa., A. Duane of Clinton, N.C., Gale and Elwood of Hornell RD 1, Jesse Miles of Addison and Philip Webb of Hornell RD 1; two sisters, Mrs. George Bliss of Painted Post and Mrs. William Smith of Almond.
An aunt and two uncles; two grandchildren.
