It is unknown when MATHILDE GAUTHIER was born, but her lineage can be traced back to BERNARD GONTHIER, son ofJEAN-BERNARD GONTHIER AND MARIE LAY
of St-Severin de Paris, Ile de France. BERNARD was born sometime around 1643 in Paris having an occupation of cobbler. He left France for Canada
sometime around 1666. He continued his trade in Canada and on January 18, 1675, with his family and friends present, he signed a contract
of marriage to Marguerite Pasquier in the presence of Pierre Duquet, royal notary. The contract namely stated
that Gontier, having promised and promise to take by name and law of marriage the said Pasquier widow, as the said widow also promise, to take for
her lawful husband. This marriage will be solemnized before Our Mother the Holy Catholic Apostolic and Roman Church, as soon as possible and as it
will be discussed and decided between themselves and their said relatives and friends, if God and Our said Mother the Holy Church do agree. According
to the «Coutume de Paris»,future spouses agree to live under joint estate. Neither spouse is liable for the debts incurred by the other before the
future marriage, if any, unpaid debts will be paid by the one who incurred it and with his or her acquests.
The future wife will receive the usual dower. The share [préciput =amount to be taken from the mass for partition] will be equal and
reciprocal to the amount of three hundred [French] livres, as agreed amongst the parties, to be taken by the surviving spouse on the
community assets following the inventory and without auction. More especially that from the marriage of the said defunct Biville and the
said widow, there are three children from their marriage, namely François, Catherine and Jean, who with the agreement of the above
mentioned will be reer and keep [supported by] at the expense of the future community, till each one reach the age of eighteen, or be
previously settled, either by marriage, &, by clerical order or other then the said Gontier and the said wife will be discharged,
understanding that they were left minors without personal assets. In the event of dissolution of the community, the future wife may renounce, without paying the dower and the enrichment, and get back her bed, her rings and jewels [son usage]. Done and proceeded in Quebec, distric of Jun.....le, this eighteenth day of January 16hundred seventy-five (1675).

LOUIS married GENEVIEVE GAGNE daughter of IGNACE GASNIER DIT GAGNE and BARBE DODIER. BARBE was born on May 27, 1686 in St Anne, P.Q.,Canada and died April 09, 1731 in Baie-St. Paul, Quebec. LOUIS and BARBE were married on April 13, 1706 in Baie St. Paul, Quebec, Canada.
--- 2nd Generation --- 2. JEAN GAUTHIER was born in 1713 in Les Eboulements, Charlevoix Ouest, Quebec and died November 22, 1749 in Ile Aux Courdes, Charlevoix-Ouest, Quebec. JEAN married MARIE JOSEPHTE GAGNON daughter of JOSEPH GAGNON and MARIE MADELEINE TREMBLAY. MARIE was born on October 02, 1718 in Baie St. Paul, Quebec, Canada and died May 1785 in Les Eboulements. JEAN and MARIE were married on November 11, 1737 in Eboulements

JOSEPH married MARIE GENEVIEVE BOUCHARD daughter of JOSEPH FRANCOIS BOUCHARD and MARIE DOROTHEE SAVARD. MARIE was born July 15, 1752 in Ile aux Coudres, Charlevoix Ouest, Quebec. JOSEPH and MARIE were married August 02, 1773 in L'Isle-aux-Coudres

JACQUES married AGATHE LECLERC daughter of JEAN BAPTISTE LECLERC and MARIE JOSEPHTE DESSAINT DIT ST.PIERRE. JACQUES and AGATHE were married January 23, 1810 in St. Louis, Ile-aux-coudres, Charlevoix
--- 5th Generation --- 5. CHARLES GAUTHIER was born in 1810. CHARLES married MATHILDE BIRON daughter of GERMAIN BIRON and ISABELLE ELISABETH BOISVERT. CHARLES AND MATHILDE were married on February 02, 1851 in St. Germain d'Halifax.
