This is a report about William Byard (1792-1866) who was convicted of giving 'short measures'

Bach Heathcote and Geoffrey Meynell Esquires, two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for this County, having returned to this Court a conviction under their hands and seals to be filed amongst the records of this session whereby William Byard of Alderwasley in the said county, miller, was convicted before them of having in his house on the 23rd. October now last past at Alderwasley aforesaid one two pound weight and a one pound weight which were not according to the standard in the Exchequer contrary the form of the statute in that case made and provided, and for this offence hath forfeited the sum of ten shillings to be applied in the said and also the further sum of six shillings for the costs and charges of the said condition, this doth therefore order that the said conviction be filed accordingly.
