The Elinor Odom Family

      Elinor or Eleanor born Jan.30, 1810, Washington Co., AL., died March 31, 1884, Uvalde Co., Tex., married John West, Sr. on Jan. 28, 1834. She was the daughter of Malachi Odom and Mary Russell.

      Elinor and John West, Sr. had the following children:

1. Thomas Sterling West
2. William James West
3. Mary Lavina Hopper West
4. John West, Jr.
5. Archibald West
6. Margaret Elinor West (died at three months of age)
7. Annie Powe West
8. Vincent West
9. Simeon West (died at 10 days old)

Judy West (Mrs. William George West, Jr.) reports that John West and Elinor lived in Waynesboro, Wayne County, Mississippi. John was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives for a number of years until the Civil War.

After the death of her husband, Elinor moved to Uvalde, Texas about 1878 with the families of three of John's and her children.
