From the 1968 History of Hancock County, page 324, Captain William Willis was the first person buried in the Willis Cemetery.  He was a native of Ohio, and an uncle to Frank Willis (who was the grandfather of Martha Willis Vance).

Robert Willis Thompson advises that William was the third child of Tilghman Willis Sr., Robert's ggg-grandfather, and that Frank's full name was James Franklin Willis.  Robert is accumulating information on the Willis family and is interested in corresponding with other researchers.  Contact him at: Mackie-bob AT email.msn.com

On January 6, 1851, William married Louisa Cambron, daughter of Thomas Cambron and Mary Campbell.
