| Daniel was the son of Boon E. Laybourn and Clarissa W. Ash, of Indiana and New Hampshire, respectively. Daniel was born in Marshall County, Indiana, and came with his widowed mother and six of his siblings (there were twelve children born to Boon and Clarissa) to Hancock County in 1875. He married Abbie Swisher of LaHarpe on October 7, 1890; she survived him. Daniel and his only child, Emily, share a tombstone at Webster Cemetery.
September 30, 1891 (excerpted from Chat's column) SEPT. 28.- Died, Sept. 26th, Emilee C., infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Laybourne, aged two months and 26 days. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Bruce on Sabbath at 2:30 p.m.
Later in the column: Miss Bertha Swisher, of LaHarpe, is staying a few days with her sister, Mrs. Abbie Laybourne. March 30, 1892 (excerpted from Chat's column) We are sorry to note that Danial Layborne is not so well again.
Emily's obituary is from the collection of Cora R. Swift. Chat wrote that Emily died on the 26th; her tombstone has been read as September 21. |
