Florence M. Simmons, daughter of Sidney S. Simmons and Nancy Bond, was born January 31, 1874, near Fountain Green, Hancock County, Illinois.  She died September 22, 1947, at Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois.

Florence taught school before marrying; in 1891 she was hired to teach at Webster.  Over the summer of 1892 she was furthering her own education by attending school in Normal, Illinois.

She married Charles Irving Campbell on April 5, 1896, at LaHarpe.  Marriage Documents

C. Irving Campbell was born January 14, 1861, in LaHarpe, died May 17, 1950, in Blandinsville, McDonough County, Illinois.  He was the son of James M. Campbell (1834-1918) from Pennsylvania, and Mary Stearns (1838-1894) from Vermont.

Both Florence and Irving were buried at Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville.

Florence and Irving were the parents of:

i. Portia Florence Campbell, born January 3, 1897, in LaHarpe , died November 30, 1991, at Macomb, McDonough County.  She married Charles Herbert Hodges on February 2, 1916. He was born April 9, 1895, died January 28, 1980.
 
ii. James Gordon Campbell, born June 22, 1898, he preceded Portia in death.  When his parents died he was reported to be living in Wichita, Kansas.
 
iii. Robert Claud Campbell, born October 2, 1899, died in 1919, burial in the family plot at Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville.  When he signed up for Selective Service in 1918, the registrar wrote: "no loss of limb but is paralised and unable to work."
 
iv. Sidney Campbell, born about 1907 in Illinois, he also preceded Portia in death.  Said to be living in San Diego, California, when his mother died; named as Sidney S. Campbell of La Mesa, California when his father died.  (There's a Social Security death record for a Sidney Campbell who was born March 25, 1907, and died in May of 1973; last known address: Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado.)
